New York City — 3 nights

Big Apple

Writer Pearl Buck once called New York City “a place apart,” and this giant urban center remains unlike any other in the world.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Food Tours and Horse-Drawn Carriage Tours. There's still lots to do: go for a walk through Central Park, enjoy breathtaking views from Empire State Building, race across the water with a speed boat tour, and explore the world behind art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Los Angeles — 5 nights

City of Angels

Surrounded by mountain ranges, forests, valleys, beaches, and deserts, the metropolitan area of Los Angeles is home to over 17 million people.
Step out of the city life by going to Santa Monica State Beach and Dolphin & Whale Watching. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Wine Tours & Tastings and Santa Barbara County Courthouse. Change things up with these side-trips from Los Angeles: San Clemente Pier (in San Clemente), Oceanside (Tyson Street Beach & Oceanside Pier) and Third Street Promenade (in Santa Monica). There's much more to do: examine the collection at The Getty Center, cruise along Santa Barbara Scenic Drive, steep yourself in history at Old Mission Santa Barbara, and enjoy the sand and surf at Santa Monica Bay.
