Gateway to India

Only one word accurately describes India's commercial capital Mumbai: big.
Change things up with a short trip to Shirgaon Beach in Shirgaon (about 56 minutes away). There's much more to do: pause for some photo ops at Gateway of India, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Shree Swami Narayan Temple, get outside with Marine Drive, and get a taste of the local shopping with Sancha Tea Boutique.

Chennai to Mumbai is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. When traveling from Chennai in September, plan for slightly colder days and about the same nights in Mumbai: temperatures range from 36°C by day to 28°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Pune.
