A flourishing port city and magnet for the spice trade since the 15th century, Kochi (Cochin) proudly bears its distinct international influence and local Keralan culture.
Kick off your visit on the 1st (Mon): buy something for everyone on your list at LuLu Mall and then learn something new at Kerala Kathakali Centre. Keep things going the next day: admire the masterpieces at Kerala Folklore Museum, relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas, then visit Jew Town, and finally make a trip to Chinese Fishing Nets.

Chennai to Kochi (Cochin) is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also take a train; or drive. When traveling from Chennai in August, plan for slightly colder days in Kochi (Cochin), with highs around 36°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 28°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Tue) to allow time to drive to Alappuzha.

Affectionately known as Alleppey to locals and tourists alike, Alappuzha acts as a major transport and cultural hub on the Kerala backwaters.
On the 3rd (Wed), admire nature's wide array of creatures at Saras Exotic Birds Center, then paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, and then stroll through Alappuzha Beach.

Traveling by car from Kochi (Cochin) to Alappuzha takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 35°C in August, and nighttime lows around 28°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Wed) early enough to catch the train to Varkala Town.
