Pink City

Known as the "Pink City" because of the color of the stone used for many of its notable structures, Jaipur draws visitors with its chaotic street life and a slew of colorful bazaars selling everything from handmade pottery to tie-dye scarves.
Get some cultural insight at Amber Palace and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Attractions like Jantar Mantar - Jaipur and City Palace of Jaipur make great kid-friendly stops. Washington, USA to Jaipur is an approximately 21-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 10.5 hours traveling from Washington to Jaipur. Start off your visit on the 28th (Wed): stop by Taj Gallery, then contemplate the long history of Taj Mahal, and then step into the grandiose world of Agra Fort.

Traveling by flight from Jaipur to Agra takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. In April, plan for daily highs up to 100°F, and evening lows to 70°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Wed) so you can go by car to New Delhi.

New Delhi

Designed by notable English architects and proclaimed India's capital in 1931, New Delhi sits in the middle of a sprawling metropolitan area with a population of over 25 million.
On the 29th (Thu), examine the collection at Gandhi Smriti, admire the landmark architecture of Humayun's Tomb, and then admire the natural beauty at Akshardham. Keep things going the next day: step into the grandiose world of Red Fort, then make a trip to India Gate, then steep yourself in history at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Birla Mandir Temple (Lakshmi Narayan).

You can drive from Agra to New Delhi in 3.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or take a bus. In April, daytime highs in New Delhi are 98°F, while nighttime lows are 71°F. On the 1st (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
