The former capital of the Kingdom of Ladakh, Leh possesses a historic old town area marked by stupas, monasteries, and traditional mud-brick houses.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Khardung La and Shanti Stupa. Alchi Monastery and Thiksey Monastery are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Leh with an excursion to Hemis Monastery in Hemis--about 1h 5 min away. And it doesn't end there: appreciate the views at Nubra Valley, stroll through Sand Dunes Leisure Park, let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, and examine the collection at Old Raku House.

Washington DC, USA to Leh is an approximately 26.5-hour flight. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to India Standard Time, which is usually a 10.5 hour difference. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Mon) so you can fly to Jaipur.

Known as the "Pink City" because of the color of the stone used for many of its notable structures, Jaipur draws visitors with its chaotic street life and a slew of colorful bazaars selling everything from handmade pottery to tie-dye scarves.
On the 11th (Tue), stop by Satyam Silver, see the sky in a new way at Jantar Mantar - Jaipur, browse the exhibits of City Palace of Jaipur, then admire the landmark architecture of Amber Palace, and finally admire the striking features of Jal Mahal. Fly from Leh to Jaipur in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. Expect a daytime high around 91°F in August, and nighttime lows around 76°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Wed) to allow time to fly to Agra.
