In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Get out of town with these interesting Honolulu side-trips: Haleiwa (Sunset Beach Park & Waimea Bay) and Turtle Bay Beach (in Kahuku). There's lots more to do: take in the pleasant sights at Diamond Head State Monument, steep yourself in history at Iolani Palace, contemplate the waterfront views at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, and explore the different monuments and memorials at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
