Bethesda — 5 nights

Bethesda is a census-designated place in southern Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located just northwest of the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. It takes its name from a local church, the Bethesda Meeting House (1820, rebuilt 1849), which in turn took its name from Jerusalem's Pool of Bethesda. Do some cultural sightseeing at Little Round Top and Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Change things up with these side-trips from Bethesda: National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (in Emmitsburg), Gettysburg (91st Pennsylvania Monument, Ghost & Vampire Tours, &more) and St. Michaels (Boat Tours & Water Sports & Lyon Rum Distillery). There's still lots to do: stroll around Cabin John Regional Park, view the masterpieces at Waverly Street Gallery, steep yourself in history at Little Library, and explore the world behind art at Ratner Museum.

To find traveler tips, photos, other places to visit, and other tourist information, you can read our Bethesda trip itinerary planning website.
