Bethesda — 4 nights

Bethesda is a census-designated place in southern Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located just northwest of the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. It takes its name from a local church, the Bethesda Meeting House (1820, rebuilt 1849), which in turn took its name from Jerusalem's Pool of Bethesda. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Little Round Top and National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Venture out of the city with trips to Gettysburg (91st Pennsylvania Monument, Ghost & Vampire Tours, &more) and St. Michaels (Ouvert Gallery, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, &more). There's lots more to do: walk around Cabin John Regional Park, take in the exciting artwork at Waverly Street Gallery, explore the landscape on two wheels at Capitol Crescent, and take in nature's colorful creations at Brookside Gardens.

To see more things to do, where to stay, reviews, and more tourist information, refer to the Bethesda trip planner.

Washington to Bethesda is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also drive. May in Bethesda sees daily highs of 74°F and lows of 54°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Rockville.
