Remember the fallen at Airborne Cemetery, a Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery and the final resting place of 1,759 men who died in World War II. This site, established in 1945, mostly holds the graves of Allied servicemen killed during the Battle of Arnhem, in which Allied troops attempted to cross the Rhine in 1944, or during the liberation of the city. Do not be surprised to see new grave markers; bodies are still being discovered in the surrounding area and are laid to rest among their comrades. • A thought provoking atmosphere, ideal to make a visit after visiting the museums, to put the events into context. 1700 brave souls lie here in final rest as the result of a mad mans quest for world...

  • There are at least two chaplains buried here. Most of the British troops killed during operation Market Garden are buried here. 1747 men buried here including three Victoria cross recipients: Grayburn, Lord, and Wueripel. Twin brothers are buried here: Claude and Thomas Groenert. Both in 2 Para. and KIA 17 Sep 1944.
  • A beautiful and well kept memorial, dedicated to the fallen allied soldiers during operation Market Garden. A visit to the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek should be concluded by a walk through this cemetery.
