Museum De Locht, Melderslo

Wonderful museum! In a small village close to Venlo, a few traditional buildings have been restored and redecorated to provide a look into life in this area last century. Very well presented and with lots of volunteers maintaining it beautifully, explaining and demonstrating old crafts. Also houses the national Asparagus museum and Champignon Museum,both also very interesting. Lots of things to do for children, including a playground. Nice restaurant and shop. Try the homemade sugar beet syrup! Easy to spend 3-4 hours.

A simple but amazing museum. Although lacking in English explanations, the staff made up for it with lots of enthusiasm. A member of the staff joined us for several parts of the site and made sure we understood what was going on and that we didn't miss anything. The mushroom pavilion is not amazing but the greenhouse with tomatoes to eat was a treat. The children also really enjoyed the "old" games.
