Almost everyone associates the Netherlands with windmills--at World Heritage Kinderdijk, you can see a channel lined with 19 of them dating back to 1740. Used for the last time during the World War II, these structures used hydraulics to provide drainage, protecting the area from floods. Although advanced technology is replacing windmills today, you can still admire the beauty of theses majestic structures. • A very interesting place full of historical monuments. A nice place to take a walk, bike or hang out with family. This is exactly what the Dutch are famous for so it's really a must visit when you come to the Netherlands. You can't leave without visiting this place. Kinderdijk was the first place in the Netherlands to have electricity. You can get a tour guide to tell you all the information if you are interested.
  • This is a great place to go for a walk and admire the windmills and landscape. Be aware that parking can be done early in the morning but the shuttle bus doesn't start until 10.00. Besides that, we're definitely going to come back in the future.
