A Haarlem landmark for over two centuries, Molen De Adriaan Museum sits in the center of the city and provides insight about the history and architecture of Dutch windmills. Built in 1778 and badly damaged during a 1932 fire, the structure recently underwent a major reconstruction. Carefully restored to its old glory, the windmill is again fully functional, though not often in use. You can see it grinding grain on the weekends, and if you come on a weekday, join a guided tour to learn about the historical significance of windmills in this part of Europe. • It is a short walk from the city center. It sits at the picturesque intersection of the Nieuwe Gracht Kanaal and the Binnem Spaarne. There is a short guided tour available.

  • Cool little windmill to go look round. It's not big and doesn't take long, but also doesn't cost much at all to visit. Interesting how the iconic Dutch windmills work inside. The tour guides were really nice too!
  • It may be a simple and short tour but I love it. The guide, Ben, is really nice and friendly. We went up to the windmill for 5euros, it was an eye opening. Ben explained the histories, purposes of windmills and how they are operated. There are nice cafes nearby, next to the waters, a cool place to chill for sure!
