Portuguese Synagogue, Amsterdam

Religious Site · Hidden Gem · Architectural Building
Portuguese Synagogue is a relic of the mass migration of Portuguese Jews to Amsterdam during the Inquisition. The ornate synagogue, finished in 1675, allowed the Jews, who had been expelled from Spain and subsequently fled Portugal, the freedom to practice their religion. Take a tour to gain a deeper understanding of the hardships the Jews faced. A tour that includes a guided walk through the Jewish quarter in addition to the synagogue is also available.
