Opt for a scenic stroll along Brouwersgracht, a canal in Amsterdam and one of the city's most beautiful streets. Named for its prevalence of breweries in the 16th and 17th centuries, it is still home to a number of breweries and distilleries where you can grab a drink. The street once housed warehouses that stored and processed goods such as leather, coffee, whale oil, and spices. You'll notice a few of these still standing along the canal today, fine examples of functioning warehouses. Other architectural attractions include the picturesque rows of unique historical houses and a narrow corridor that leads to hidden church.     The Brewer's Canal is another wonderful canal in Amsterdam and quieter than the more popular Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht and Herengracht that branch off it. Home to many breweries in times gone by.....  more »
