Create an itinerary including Khao Sok National Park
Trek through the dramatic scenery of Khao Sok National Park, one of the oldest rainforests in the world and the wettest spot in Thailand. Jagged rock formations extend 300-600 m (984-1,969 ft) upward from Cheow Lan Lake with luscious green vegetation clinging to their sides and waterfalls tumbling from them. Elephants, tigers, tapirs, deer, boars, bears, gibbons, macaques, and many more wild animals roam the jungle (some 5 percent of the world's species in total). Take a boat across the lake, and follow winding trails that crisscross the park as you admire the bounteous flora and fauna. Flash floods, leeches, and slippery ground make the wet season significantly more dangerous, but some may wish to risk the hazards for the increased likelihood of spotting the big animals who become more active during this period. • Literally one of the most beautiful places I have been in Thailand in the past 4 years living here. I cannot explain how beautiful. The photos will never do justice this dam has. There are so many great photo opportunities. Lots of activities, such as; hike, kayak, monkey watching, relaxing, listening to birds, swimming, and going to viewpoints. I would suggest at least 2 days even if you arnt outdoor type of person. Get a local guide to take you on the lake. Have a day to just listen to the nature and relax. If you are up to it there are a few view points about 30-90min walking to get to the top. A cave. So many things. You don't have to stay on the lake to get the feel, many nice hotels a few minutes drive or even walking distance to the marina. Bring bug spray and sunblock!
  • Amazing! Most places do two overnight packages. I recommend opting for the one with the hike. It absolutely pelted down with rain and we had to wade through rivers but it’s was amazing and unforgettable. We booked through Secret Hostel, but many of the places use the same providers. So glad we stopped here.
