Create an itinerary including Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea)
Brave the 1,237 steps leading up to Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), famed for its tiger paw prints, tall Buddha statues, and extensive views of the surrounding landscape. Take your time ascending the stairs--they aren't a route to be rushed. The panorama at the summit deserves plenty of attention (and picture-taking), as you take in the reverential, contemplative atmosphere of this secluded spot. Be careful on your way up, and watch out for the monkeys that live there: they don't take kindly to being teased and can become aggressive if separated from their young. Make Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea) a centerpiece of your Krabi Town vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Krabi Town road trip planning app.

  • You have to climb a mountain. Steps all the way up. About 1,400 of them. It's really physical so come prepared with water and sensible shoes. Monkeys, lots of them. Hold on tight to anything you are carrying. Do not take any food, they are not polite when they want something. Just move out of the way when they slide down the rails. Once you get to the top the views are amazing. Enjoy you earnt it. Down is easier but still hard. My legs were like jelly when we finally got to the bottom. Hint, wash your hands, there have been a lot of monkey bums on the hand rails.
  • I Loved this place! But I love stairs, so there were plenty of those here. Truly a peaceful place, monkeys, butterflies, and temple dogs. Also, if you think 1260 stairs are a lot, well they are, but it is worth all the sweat and the tears! Bring water though for sure.
