Create an itinerary including Wat Khunaram (Mummified Monk)
Stop by Wat Khunaram (Mummified Monk) to see the mummified body of Luang Pho Daeng, a prominent monk who died in 1973 while meditating. The monk's remains serve as an important reminder of the transience of human nature. One of the more unusual historical attractions available in the area, the temple draws foreign visitors interested in learning more about Buddhism. Instead of selling conventional souvenirs, the onsite shop takes a more holistic and spiritual approach, stocking goods such as holy water, coconut oil, and natural soaps. See Wat Khunaram (Mummified Monk) and all Na Mueang has to offer by arranging your trip with our Na Mueang online holiday planner.

  • Well, outside of the Egyptian museums, I have never seen a mummified body before, and certainly not one that is only 49 years old! 2023 will be the 50th anniversary of the death of this monk, and...

  • Another part of the Koh Somui Island tour from Mr Somui, (details about him in another review later). Every village has its own temple and monk. Again this is another interesting story which you can read about when you visit.
  • This was a small site... There is a mummified monk in a glass enclosure with shades on. The story is that this well loved Buddhist monk eyes deteriorated and he became blind. This is why the shades were left on him. Neat to see once.
