Create an itinerary including Wat Si Suphan
Take a spiritual trip to Wat Si Suphan, a temple built in 1502 entirely covered in silver, inside and out. Today, only the boundary markers remain of the original structure, and the reconstruction has been covered in silver tiles and panels. Look for artwork on the panels depicting spiritual themes, including scenes from Buddha's lives. Stop by the silversmith school on site, and check the schedule ahead of time for "monk chat" times, when you can talk to a monk. Add Wat Si Suphan to your Chiang Mai travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Chiang Mai driving holiday planning app.

  • I don't give out 5 stars easily but the "Silver Temple" here is probably the single most beautiful building of around 20 Temples I've seen in Chiang Mai so far. Amazing detailed metalwork. For some reason whilst women can't go inside this building, they can visit the second main assembly hall and tradition temple building. There are a number of craft stalls on this site and shrine "Elephant Buddha Statue" where offerings were being made.
  • Very beautiful silver temple! So surprised that I didn't find an article talking about it online. But luckily we met a local and he recommended this to me. The silver temple exterior is interestingly with ancient 7 wonders, modern cities and even marvel characters! Women aren't allowed to go in
