Leukerbad sits in a high valley in the Swiss Alps where some 3.9 million l (2.5 million gal) of natural thermal waters up to 51 C (123.8 F) pump through the spas every day. Getting to the town is an adventure--you reach it by zig-zagging along a mountain road that runs past large chasms and wooden crags.
