Alvarez Duran Priorat, Porrera

I visited the winery together with my classmates. It was the last place to visit during the field trip, we arrived late and we were tired but the way that the family Alvarez Duran received us was so amazing and kind that I am glad that we visited this small family winery (located inside of their own house). The tour through the winery started on the first floor, they told us about the history of their winery, showed us around the area where the wines are aging on the second floor, and then we visited the third floor from where there is a spectacular view from a balcony towards the town of Porrera (it can be seen almost all of it) and we had a tasting of different wines produced by Salus, Fina and their children. I really enjoyed the way that Salus guided us to do the tasting experience. Besides only follow a normal wine tasting protocol (like happened in many wine tours I have been), he did not tell us to guess the colors, aromas and how was the attack of the wine in mouth, instead of it, he let us try the wine and enjoying it. He taught us that the meaning of the wine is to be happy by sharing it among friends and then, he told us the tasting notes of the wines. After being with this family I felt like they had the capacity to make you feel like a long time friend during the tour and not only a tourist. I really recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy wines from local producers of Priorat and enjoy a different visit through a real family winery. All the best and thank you Salus and Fina!

I have had a great experience visiting the Alvarez Duran winery. The owners are very friendly and make you feel at home from the very first moment. We got to know the facilities, we could take pictures, and learned a lot about the Priorat wines - we did a tasting and I was very satisfied - totally recommendable!
