Situated in the heart of Cadeques's old town, Esglesia de Santa Maria is the town's parochial cathedral. Built in the late Gothic style of the mid-16th century on the highest point of the historic nucleus, the cathedral stands out amid the winding, narrow streets that surround it. The pure white facade is typical of Costa Brava architecture, and features a wrought-iron door bearing symbols of the town and the sea. Visits are allowed only during Saturday evening and Sunday morning masses, but you can peek in at the altarpiece from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and 4 to 4:45 p.m. every day. The Cadaques International Music Festival often holds classical music concerts here in the summer; contact the tourist office for information and tickets. Visited around midday on a Tuesday in late May. Looks quite utilitarian on the outside but the inside has some lovely ornate features - without being overly showy. Cool (temperature), quiet and solemn inside. Some interesting paintings to take in. Has some nice alcoves too. Quite central and relatively easy to access. Certainly worth a visit if you find yourself in Cadaques. Highly recommended.

It is a nice litle rown but the local police is very selective when you want a parkingspot at the parkingplace. Good tapasbars every where.
