Create an itinerary including Cheonggyecheon Stream
See how a successful eco-friendly urban renewal project created a popular tourist spot at Cheonggyecheon Stream. Before the nation's rapid economic development after the war, the district stood as a neglected waterway secluded by an overpass. However, after the renovation and beautification project, it evolved into a modern public recreation space and a haven for natural habitats. Inspect the passing stream from one of two historic bridges--Gwangtonggyo and Supyogyo--and see how it teems with animal and plant life amid a highly urbanized city. You'll find many shops and small businesses here; feel free to pay them a visit and purchase their goods, souvenirs, or services. Put Cheonggyecheon Stream on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Seoul travel itinerary planner.

  • Small stream running through the heart of Seoul, where tons of locals hang out to relax. It's a great place to go for a stroll, read a book, or just people watch. There are even plenty of herons and other birds to be found in the park, hunting for fish in the stream. It can get crowded in some spots (especially as you get close to the end where Deoksugung and Gyeongbukgung are), but areas further east lare much less crowded. You might just have the place to yourself. Worth a visit for sure
  • Although it's been a long time, the memories of walking along Cheonggyecheon with a friend, accompanied by a senior from DAU Busan was impressive. The water is very clean and there are several small rapids, with fish swimming in them. Indeed, we did not walk 11 KM, only half of it, and then visited several interesting objects such as Statue of Admiral Yi Sun-Sin, Gwanghwamun Square and others. What an unforgettable experience.
