Saint Petka's Chapel, Belgrade

4.9
Religious Site · Tourist Spot
View the Mediterranean-style facade and intimate interior filled with vivid Orthodox mosaics at Saint Petka's Chapel, built at the site of an ancient spring with curative water. In addition, a hand of Saint Petka, who is remembered for her good deeds, lies on the church's premises. Dating back to 1937, this church was built not only on the curative spring, but also at a mass gravesite of Serbian soldiers from World War I; the bones were discovered by accident during construction and transferred to an ossuary. View the mosaics inside, created in the 1980s. Look for the spring that thousands of people worship and use, believing that it holds miraculous powers.
