Featured in numerous articles, including in the Atlas Obscura, Ružica features a facade covered in greenery and chandeliers made of weapons. Pressed up against the walls of the Belgrade fortress, the church has a history dating back to the 14th century, after which it was destroyed and rebuilt several times; the present construction is from 1925. During the 1700s, soldiers kept their gunpowder inside, and in the 19th century it served as a military church. Enter the cave-like chamber to see vivid frescoes and the famous chandeliers wrought from cannon ammunition, officers' swords, and pistols. Take time to view the medieval-style yards adorning the fort's base. Make Ružica a centerpiece of your Belgrade vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Belgrade trip planner.

Very beautiful little church, tucked into the side of the Serbian Kalemegdan fortress. Besides the finely decorated interiors, the church is notable for two chandeliers entirely made of spent bullet casing, swords, and cannon parts. Beautiful place. Spell bounding sunsets
