At Military Museum, see a collection of tools and weapons from all over the world, dating back to prehistoric times. Since 1878, the museum has collected and preserved around 30,000 objects, more than 100,000 photographs, and some 20,000 books and magazines. Here you'll be able to learn about the entire history of the Yugoslav army, as well as see exhibits of excavated tools, preserved armors and weapons, and various tanks brought back from battlefields. View thematic dioramas that illustrate how some of the weapons were used and snap photos of clothes from different eras. If you wish, you can purchase a book about the exhibits at the site. Within the Kalemegdan Fortress you will be able to see this impressive collection of tanks and artillery. Note that this is all outside the museum and free to look at / click pictures with! The museum itself has collections of medieval weaponry and you need to pay around 200 din entry fee. Note that a majority of the explanatory panels were only in Serbian and only a few in English when I visited in Aug 2022. In my opinion the outdoor display was more fun to see. Note that there's a separate museum of torture equipment which while nearby is separate and has it's own entry fee.
One of the best museums in Belgrade. Tells a lot of the story of Yugoslavia until the late NATO bombing. It could use better international descriptions and lighting, as the later in most exhibitions was a little dark to see. I specially liked the more medieval part, but it’s such an interesting place. Must go if you’re in Belgrade.
