A so-called the "Sistine Chapel of the East," Manastirea Voronet draws visitors because of its exterior frescoes and its status as a World Heritage Site (together with other painted churches of Moldavia). The scenes are painted with an intense nuance of "Voronet blue," a color obtained from lapis lazuli. Stephen the Great erected the monastery in 1488 after he had chased the Turks from Wallachia. Pay attention to the fresco of the last judgment on the western wall. You'll notice that the doomed souls wear Turkish turbans, and that the souls being carried to heaven are wrapped in Moldavian towels. The interior of the church shelters the delicately carved wooden chair of the ruler. The first abbot of the monastery, Saint Daniil the Hermit, is buried on the monastery grounds. Unique place in Bucovina, an UNESCO heritage site. Known as the "Sistine Chapel of the East", the frescoes at Voroneț feature an intense shade of blue known in Romania as "Voroneț blue." Highly recommended.

it's one of those places you need to visit - world renowned shade 'blue of voronet', now it is faided on the exterior of the monastery, but i would definitely pay a visit if you are in the area. inside is renovated, with before and after pictures - entrance was about 2 usd/adult, the visit doesn't take long, but you will remember it :). i recommend it!
