Create an itinerary including Palace of Parliament
Ironically named the "People's Palace" by the country's most notable dictator, Palace of Parliament was built for Nicolae Ceauşescu, who was killed in the revolution before the building was finished. Among marble-plated halls and conference rooms, notice the twin marble stairways, which were rebuilt three times before Ceauşescu was satisfied with their height. The highlights of the guided tour include the ethnographic display of traditional Romanian costumes, and the balcony from which Michael Jackson greeted the public. For an extra fee, you can take a tour of the basement, or climb to the roof terrace, which offers one of the best views of the city. The building also houses a museum of contemporary art. • The Palace of Parliament is huge. The guided tour covers the most important parts and is quite impressive. A must see in Bucharest.

  • This place is definitely worth visiting. The building is absolutely huge (heaviest building in the world) and has many beautifully decorated rooms. You need to book a tour In advance and the tour will take about 1-1:30 hours. Don't miss out on visiting the most famous landmark of Bucharest!
  • Definitely recommend the tour. I was skeptical, but it was worth it. Calling ahead to book is a must! We saw lots of people get turned away who showed up without a booking. Call the day before, and call early when they open. Don’t waste money through a tour service - just call the palace directly. The history of the palace isn’t very happy, but the building is truly impressive. Pictures do not do the palace justice. It’s so incredibly huge. Our tour guide, Francisc L was fantastic. If you have him, you’ll be in great hands.
