Get to know the history of "the pearl of Lower Silesia" and its residents at Zamek Ksiaz w Walbrzychu. The original castle was built on a rock cliff surrounded by the forest in the 13th century, and it was reconstructed in the 18th century. Follow the tracks of the Hochberg's through the Baroque salons, along the rock of fortune, onto the terraces, and into a tunnel. Nazi Germans built the tunnel 15 m (49 ft) under the castle during World War II. The castle also houses an art gallery, two restaurants, and three hotels. Additional attractions include the entrance to the castle tower, castle stables, coach house, tomb chapel, and indoor arena built entirely of larchwood without any nails. • Such a good place to visit in winter. Not many people in the area = no rush or lines to stand in and wait for something. I really liked the tour in the tunnels under the castle.

  • This is a beautiful castle with a lot of history. When you go in and purchase the ticket they give you several options one with the tour of the Underground included and I would recommend going that route as the tour underground is also very good. They will give you an audio guide that will walk you through the whole castle and give you the history and events that transpired through the years. The tour takes about the proximately 2 hours to complete with the audio guide and I like the way they set up their audio guide as you can skip ahead to something that interests you a little bit more which is a nice touch. The audio guide is location based. There is so much to see here and what I especially liked was the turn of the century pictures of everyday life. Some of the places in have amazing views of the surrounding Countryside and of the Immaculate Gardens. The gardens around the castle are just beautiful unfortunately the day I was there it was raining.
  • This is a lovely castle, with a lot of history. Much of the interiors are unadorned compared to what they were, but the setting is stunning. It feels like stepping back in time, especially in the fall. There are paths to walk the grounds and access from the road is simple and scenic.
