A city lying on Tokyo Bay, Urayasu used to stand separate from the giant metropolis next door, but now, even though it belongs to another prefecture, it seems part of the capital. Bombed extensively during World War II, much of the city was destroyed. Some was rebuilt, but much of the land was used for modern high-rise developments and new public spaces, businesses, and schools, making Urayasu particularly popular with young families. And then there's the small matter of what the city did with land it reclaimed from the bay in the 1980s; they built a huge theme park, which now stands as the main attraction of Urayasu.
