A peaceful oasis in the midst of downtown Tokyo, Ninomaru Garden offers a quiet break from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Created in 1968, the garden has a historic significance as well. Walk the narrow, winding paths searching for the remains of castle walls, moats, and gates, while enjoying the sights and scents of seasonal flowers--azaleas in spring, irises in summer, and camellias in winter. The pond with slowly-swimming long-finned koi fish attracts photography enthusiasts, especially during Sakura (cherry blossom) season. If you get thirsty, stop by the tea house. • This is a big place! This visit was in July, so it was HOT, but there were lots of places to get out of the sun. I enjoyed walking around and seeing the manicured trees and shrubs.

  • Absolutely stunning gardens on the east side of the Imperial Palace gardens. Perfectly maintained, flora delicately groomed with love and attention. The koi pond with a quaint but sturdy bridge running across it being a highlight. Small bamboo forest. Groves with streams. All bringing peace in the middle of the city.
  • Beautiful gardens by far the place to visit if you like nature.
