Create an itinerary including Punta della Dogana
Housed in Venice's old customs building, Punta della Dogana is now a contemporary art museum. The name refers to the triangular area of the city where the Grand Canal meets the Guidecca canal, but it has now become synonymous with the building and its art exhibits. Previously empty for decades, the building was restored in 2009 by French art collector François Pinault, whose €20 million renovation showcases the building's "industrial and minimalist soul." Stand at the tip of the triangle, enjoying views of the vast sea ahead and the canals behind, before heading into the building for a look at some of Venice's finest contemporary art. • Bruce Nauman: WTF was that? Literally the most egotistical BS excuse for art I have ever seen. Literally considering declining the credit card transaction this was so bad. What a joke. DO NOT GO to...

  • We went to see the ongoing exhibition on Bruce Nauman in this museum for contemporary art on the eastern tip of Dorsoduro, a place that you absolutely have to visit. Performance art is not everybody's cup of tea, but you have to admit that this exhibition is full of humour also when it comes to the artist's most recent production.
  • Beautiful place. The weather when we visited was warm and breezy. That weather vane up on the roof was moving around for hundreds of years welcoming ships to Venice. It must have been an incredible sight to see all the ships to come in when Venice was a huge trading port.
