Galleria Borghese is housed in a villa once used for elegant private parties. The art gallery contains a substantial part of a collection of paintings and sculptures amassed by Scipione Borghese, a 17th-century cardinal and art patron. Borghese was an early benefactor of artists Caravaggio and Bernini. You can explore 20 rooms across two floors. The main floor is mostly devoted to the period between the first and the third centuries, featuring mosaics of gladiators and several sculptures. In other sections of the gallery, you can see works by such artists as Canova, Raphael, Correggio, Titian, Rubens, and Veronese. An advance ticket, which you can book on the gallery's website, is required. • One of most beautiful art collections I have ever seen The sculptures by Bernini are exquisite - the details, the expressions, so human and divine at the same time. Paintings by Caravaggio - the light, the rendering of the humans.....beyond stunning. This gallery hosts the best of what humans have to offer when it comes to art. My only complaint is that time is too short.....7 days wouldn't be enough to see and enjoy it all.
  • Well, not really hidden, but also not so overcrowded as other places in Rome it is an amazing art gallery with few sculptures and many paintings. The building itself is already beautiful. The paintings are mainly religious and the statues are quite impressive. The garden in front is open to public and absolutely worth a stroll if you have the time in Rome to relax and enjoy a day with less action.
