Create an itinerary including Piazza della Signoria
The beating heart of the city's political life since the 14th century, photogenic Piazza della Signoria is lined by modern cafes and packed with Renaissance sculptures. This lively L-shaped square is named after the massive Romanesque fortress-palace that overlooks it. A favorite meeting place of Florentines, the square is like an open-air museum of art with its numerous statues, including a copy of Michelangelo's sculpture of David. An ornate fountain features a large figure of Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. The square serves as a gateway to the Uffizi Gallery, which displays more of the city's art. • Very relaxing place to sit and eat or have a drink and take in the views. Several great restaurants for meals or just gelato.

  • A must see in Florence. Statues are both unique and a David. A castle. Lots of people watching. Good food and drink as you people watch. Spend some time there-you won't regret it
  • one of the best places to visit. as always in Florence the architecture surrounding the square is stunning but what really stands out is that there is an open exhibition with replicas of various statues and of course Michelangelo's David and also a fountain. There are many excellent places to eat in the nearby streets and cafes to sit in the square.
