Awaken your inner spiritual side and take part in a Hindu religious experience at Agnitheertham. Step into the calm sea where, according to local tradition, pilgrims wash away their sins. Afterwards, proceed to the temple and bathe in one of its 22 holy wells to complete the ritual. There is a total of 64 holy bodies of water on site; however, the 22 located inside the temple itself indicate the number of arrows in Lord Rama's quiver. Devotees consider bathing in the temple's waters a major aspect of pilgrimage. To visit Agnitheertham and other attractions in Rameswaram, use our Rameswaram online trip itinerary builder.

Holy place as far as Hindu devotees are concerned. Calm and quiet sea . Can walk bit far as if in a river . Temple staff are cleaning the place now and then to make it tidy, but i feel it is the responsibility of devotees to maje sure they are not littered the place. So many priests are available there, with a reasonable price you can have the rites performed there. They have provided mats to make the steps non slippery, but due to algae growth over the years, some places are slippery and need to be careful. Its beautiful in the morning and evening.
Hindu holy place. The sea is not deep here. You can move meters from the shore without fear. Only problem is there are many pieces of cloth wastes in the sea. The authorities is not cleaning the shore. You have to use paid parking some distance before the place. There is tasty panipuri available on the small shops along the shore.
