Must see · Castle · Tourist Spot
Perched on a remote hill, Sinhagad Fort served as the site of many historic battles, including the famous 1671 Battle of Sinhagad. The carvings found within the fort's temple suggest the structure could have been built 2,000 years ago. Take an uphill climbing route, along which locals sell boiled eggs and salted butter. See the military stables, old wells, historic gates, a brewery, a statue of the god Hanuman, and a temple dedicated to Hindu goddess Kali. Look for the bust of Tanaji--a general who lost his life in the Battle of Sinhagad--and a tomb of his younger brother Rajaram. Nature lovers will enjoy views of the surrounding mountains, flights of different spices of birds, and a rose garden. A visit to Sinhagad Fort represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Pune trip planner to plot your vacation.

  • If you want just a simple trek, this is the best place to be at. You will get a beautiful view if you managed to be at the top for the sunrise. You could go there in monsoon season, winter or summer anytime of the year, you will get scenic views. If you are a foodie I would recommend you must go there cause you don't get that particular taste anywhere.
  • Gonna enjoy more when you travel with your group of friends. I recommend reach the top by climbing It will take more time to climb and reach but it will give you a better experience. Foods there are from village people which you will love it. Scenic beauty You will have hard time finding your mobile network there. For beginner trekkers it is good to go. Overall quite fun
