Visit Shaniwar Wada, an 18th-century fort which, at its peak, housed over a thousand people. The fort, built in 1732, once stood at seven stories high, and was the capital building of the Peshwa empire. An unexplained fire tore through the fort in 1828, burning for seven days. Only the fortification walls, gateways, and the nine bastions that surrounded the palace remain today. Learn about the fort's rich and interesting history, and admire the remains of what was once considered the seat of the Peshwa rulers. • A calm place. Good to be visited at evenings. Great if you are accompanied by someone. It will be superb to go with friends for a casual hangout. Nice wind and atmosphere. Nothing much to see there.just the ruins present. The story line is nice if you dig deep. Its really interesting to read the panels and evenly on Google if you search. Great experience for a casual time pass as I had to spend an hour or two it was really nice place to be at.
