See an important landmark and monument of Indian national history at Aga Khan Palace, a building linked to the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and his family. Gandhi, his wife Kasturba, and his secretary Mahadevbhai Desai were held prisoner here following the launch of the Indian independence movement in 1942. Kasturba and Desai passed away while in captivity, and today their samadhis (tombs) represent major sites of pilgrimage. The Italian-influenced palace, built in 1892 by Imam Sultan Muhammad Shah Aga Khan III, now houses the national memorial to Gandhi, with photographs and paintings capturing moments from his life and the independence movement he inspired. • History of India's freedom struggle comes alive. Quite well maintained & precise information is available. The guide form ASI is there. This lady gives excellent commentary.

  • If you prefer trees over malls, this place is for you. A serene and calm place to enjoy the nature and introspect. Has historical significance as Mahatma Gandhi lived here. The museum showcases lots of historical events via paintings, status, actual photographs and his belongings. The garden adds to the beauty of the palace..having some very well maintained trees, flowers. This is delight for photography lovers, so don't forget to pack all kind of lenses u may have!! I have been here more than ten times and it is always an escape from the high speed city life. The canteen provides adequate food and beverages at very reasonable price. Sometimes there is an exhibition of Khadi and handmade products which are worth buying.. Entry fee for Indians is just 25 bucks! Just perfect.
  • Keeping aside all the political view and only talking about the flora and fauna, do visit. You can easily spend 3-4 hours just sitting there and talking. Here's one I randomly clicked and turned out to be eye settling picture. Happy Exploring!!
