The impeccable temple of Pemayangtse Gompa (literally translated as "Perfect Sublime Lotus") boasts exquisite decorations and painted statues. Built in 1705 on the popular Dzongri pilgrimage route, the monastery follows the Nyingma Order of Tibetan Buddhism and still retains its traditions. Enter the main prayer hall to find a significant Buddha statue, then climb upstairs for the multi-headed, many-armed statue depicting eight incarnations of Lord Ganesha, a Hindu god. The top floor features a patiently handcrafted, seven-tiered wooden structure portraying Guru Rimpoche’s Heavenly Palace (Sanghthokpalri/ Zandog-palri). With an elevation of 2085 m (6840 ft), the temple provides great views of the surrounding hilly landscape.
