  • Good architecture and it's an old churh from portughese era. It's easily accessible from Main road. Good to visit as part of south goa trip.  more »
  • Apart from the interesting history, the cathedral is about the only tourist stop worth visiting in Old Goa. We paid 5 rupees to have a look at surrealistic art and some photography. I wish there were....  more »
  • Brief About: The body of Francis Xavier was first taken to Portuguese Malacca and two years later shipped back to Goa. It is said that the saint's body was as fresh as the day it was buried. The remains of the saint still attract a huge number of tourists (Christian and non-Christian alike) from all over the world, especially during the public viewing of his body every ten years (last held in 2014). The saint is said to have miraculous powers of healing.

There is an exposition every ten years to venerate the body of this Saint. The next exposition will be held in the year 2024. The feast of St. Francis Xavier is celebrated here every year on the 3rd of December. The novenas begin on the 24thof November. Pilgrims flock from neighboring areas to pay their respects to the saint. It is also a public holiday in the state of Goa.
