Kayarohanaswami Temple, Nagapattinam is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Siva situated in the town of Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu, India. The presiding deity is known as Kayarohana and his consort is Nilayathakshi. The temple has been in existence from the 6th century AD and has been praised by the Nayanmars Appar, Sambandar and Sundarar. • Here presiding deity Lord Shiva and his consort is Nilayathaakshi (blue eyed),she graces here as a virgin. lord Shiva ordered Nandi Deva to give protection to her, But Nandi devar wanted to see lord Shiva also.so Nandi turned his neck onto lord Shiva with one eye seeing Shiva and other eye focussing ambigai. Jeevasamadhi of Azhukkuni siddhar is there in North East corner of this temple. Sage pundarika attained kayam (body) aarogana ( embraced) so Lord Shiva is called as kayaaroganeeswarar. Adhipathar fisherman attained salvation in this place. Must visit temple in our lifetime 🙂
