Create an itinerary including Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica
Visit one of the eight basilicas in India at Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica, a church many hail as one of the best in the country. Although the Gothic-style church was originally built in 1558, the British destroyed it, before it was rebuilt again the the 19th century. Behind the plain white exterior, you can expect to find pastel colors and columns painted with frescoes and murals once you step inside. Look up and you'll see the ceiling paintings depicting scenes from the crucifixion of Christ. If you prefer to participate than admire, join in one of the church's regular services. • A review that has been long due. This is a Basilica which is open for worship, but at the same time is a very important tourist attraction in Fort Kochi. The present building is just a little older than 100 years, however the church has been in existence for nearly 200 years now. There is no entrance fees and is open to visitors when there are no prayers happening. Pro Tip - Best time to visit is after 4 PM because the lights that pass through the colored glass windows makes the inside much more beautiful
  • It is definitely a must visit in Fort Kochi! The church is too beautiful and photogenic as well. The paintings in this church will leave you awestruck. This church is very near to Fort Kochi Beach. One can visit this church on way to the beach. Edit: I came here to visit for the second time. It was closed. The church is closed on Friday.
