Explore exquisite artworks at Mattancherry Palace, a palace with a humble exterior that contains fine examples of Hindu temple art, ornate wood carving, and traditional Kerala flooring. The Portuguese constructed the palace and presented it to the Raja of Kochi around 1555 as a goodwill gesture after their forces plundered a nearby temple. Renovated and extended by the Dutch just over 100 years later, the austere exterior gives nothing of its contents away. Step inside to see the palace's well-known collection of art, with many Western-style portraits of the Cochin Rajas, finely created and preserved Hindu murals, and an elegant carved roof. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Kochi (Cochin) holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Mattancherry Palace and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

It's a small palace converted into a museum. It is located in the first floor and the ticket counter is available there. The entry ticket is ₹5 per head, which is very nominal. There is a QR code outside the palace using which we can pay and get the tickets. The interiors of the palace looks good and photogenic otherwise there is nothing much to look at this palace. There are few guides in the museum, who will explain about the palace and the kings. There is a small pond near to it which adds to the beauty. There is also a temple next to it, where only Hindus are allowed. There is an open parking space for this palace, where we can park our vehicles. We visited here on Saturday. The place is open on Saturday, and it has been wrongly mentioned on Maps. If you are here in Mattancherry, then you can pay a visit to this Palace. A small walk from here is the Jew Town and the Boating area.

Beautiful painting of mythology on walls and celling, old coins, stamp, murals, sculpture will take you hundreds of years back. Actually this place is more than museum. Amazing experience after seeing the oil painting with three dimensional effect.
