Observe the largest fort in the Himalayas and the oldest dated fort in India at Kangra Fort. The fort was erected by the ancient Katoch dynasty. Enter the fortress through a courtyard between the gates built during the Sikh period, then through a passage leading to the top of the fort, from which you can view the mountainous scenery. See the statues of river goddesses, Ganga and Yamuna, which stand near the ruined shrines to Sitala and Devi. Next to the fort stands a temple, built by a general of the Gorkha Army. Learn about the history of the fort in a museum near the entrance with audio guides. • Absolutely incredible views - you can see for miles and get incredible photos of parrots, eagles, the river and mountains and the forest around the fort. This was a defensive fortress at one point, so you can almost imagine you're back in the day when it was used. The only thing you can't actually do is go inside the building as it has been blocked up, I imagine for safety and perhaps some religious use
  • An ancient fort build around 4th B.C. making it one of the most ancient man made structure. Although after 1905's earthquake, it has been damaged quite a bit, it still is a worth a visit historic place with great view around!
