Neolithic humans probably lived inside Edakkal Caves, which boasts ancient works of art. Although called caves, this geological formation actually represents a 9.1 m (30 ft) deep cleft or rift. Inside you will find pictorial writings, along with carvings of humans and animals dating back to around 6000 BCE. It may take a lot of walking to explore the entire area, so wear comfortable shoes and carry enough water. • Long lines to get in. Expect about a kilometer of walking on steep incline roads to get to entrance. Entry closes after about 2000 visitors each day. So better visit early. There are massive lines...

  • Has a good parking space. A number of snacks shops present until v start to climb the hill. Coffee and chocolate options are available. The climb is moderate level. But the aged ones from 50 plus can only climb up if they are willing and capable don't force them. You can stop at some points and take some rest too. Overall a good view and a nice trekking experience.
  • It is one best heritage caves we have in India, this has history to tell, the carving on the stones on the top of a hill tells a story of early Man , this is before the Indus valley civilization. The way to go on the top of the hill is covered with forest and you would love the chirping of birds and the green atmosphere, please be careful not to take any eatables in hand as there are lots of monkeys and they can snatch it from your hand. Also try to go early as possible , do not go on weekends as there will be a lot crowd and you will not be able to enjoy the whole experience.
