Worship Lord Shiva at Mammiyur Mahadeva Kshetram, a small and important urban Hindu temple built in typical Kerala architectural style. One of the 108 famous Shiva temples in Kerala, the its interior features exquisite wall paintings and grandiose sculptures. The sculpture of Lord Vishnu here is set right next to that of Lord Shiva in order to reduce the latter’s anger, and this is the only temple where Shiva and Vishnu are worshipped equal in status. Only Hindus are allowed on temple premises and three daily poojas are organized and this is the only temple which organizes a special pooja with mantras from Rig Veda.
