Visit Enchey Monastery, a peaceful Buddhist monastery built on the spot where legendary flying Lama Drupthob Karpo built his hermitage. Believed to hold the protective spirits of deities Khangchendzonga and Yabdean, the monastery holds deep religious significance in the area. Admire the richly decorated prayer hall and exterior structure, and listen to the colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind. Look out for the vibrant Cham dance festival held twice a year in January and February. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Gangtok trip simple and quick.

  • Our Taxi driver took us to this Monastery. We were not aware of it. Although it is small one, but historical it has a place in books. My kids enjoyed the calmness. No disturbance. People offered...

  • Sikkim is the home to some of the most stunning & spectacular monasteries in India. One such monastery is the Enchey Monastery, situated near the capital city of Gangtok. This is without doubt one of the top three monasteries in this state. It's exceptionally clean, quite big & the home to plenty of respected Buddhist monks, who are more than happy to interact with you and spread some invaluable words of wisdom. Entrance inside the monastery temple is allowed, but photography is prohibited. If you are coming to Gangtok, then do include this place in your travel list. 🙏🏻
  • It is one of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim. You can feel the calmness and inner peace of mind here. The place is quiet, serene and eye-soothing. The main monastery is over a hundred year old, but the maintenance is awesome. A new prayer hall is being built there. We experienced how the miniature paintings inside a monastery are made. It was just amazing. I will recommend all to visit the new prayer hall of this monastery when it is built completely.
