  • A nice temple, we drove from pondicherry to Cuddalore, but it was worth it. It should be preserved and well maintained so that people could enjoy it's beauty . It's very seculded so accessing proper roads is also important
  • This is a 1000 year old Lord Shiva temple where he is worshipped as Paadaleeswarar along with Goddess Periyanayagi. The uniqueness of this temple is the architecture and significance of the Lord - the temple where Goddess Parvati prayed for and received salvation from her sin. There is a beautiful set of Sthala purana or temple story structure right outside the Paadaleeswarar's shrine, please see and get to know the history of the temple. Also, the pillars in the hall surrounding the sanctum sanctorum are beautiful, so plan to spend some time enjoying this fine piece of architectural marvel It is believed that only at this temple did Goddess Parvati's left eye and left shoulder twitched while praying to the Lord, as He has already mentioned. Hence, Goddess Parvati continued praying to the Lord here. Goddess Parvati is believed to be praying in a formless nature to Lord Shiva and hence there is a shrine for "Arunthava Nayagi", where there is a peedam or raised stone alone (and no, statue for the Goddess) The name of the place where the temple is situated is a combination of 2 words - Pathiri for the plant that grew abundantly here and Sage Pulikkaal (Sage Vyagrabharathar), who resided here. Pathiri is the Sthala Vriksham or temple tree at this place. Currently, this temple is situated right in the middle of Cuddalore town. Parking would be right on the temple street and might be challenging during peak traffic hours, so take care to plan for car parking especially While visiting this temple, you can also plan to visit Devanatha Perumal and Lakshmi Hayagriva temples in Thiruvahindapuram
