The remains of Buchenwald Memorial, a Nazi concentration camp, serve as a museum and memorial to its victims. Much of the site was demolished, but you can still see the main gate, crematorium, hospital block, and two guard towers. Walk around the site to gain a new understanding of the horrors of Hitler's Germany. The clock on the entrance gate, set to a quarter past three, refers to the time American troops arrived at the camp on April 11, 1945. The museum outlines the history of the camp and displays many relics, such as letters, clothing, and photos. Check for the scheduled guided tours. • Buchenwald has such a sad history. Everywhere you walk you are thinking of all those prisoners who walked the same path before you. Who weren’t so lucky to be able to leave when they were feeling...

  • This place will make you think about the past, the people and the horrible experience they had to go through. It's customary that you don't laugh, talk loud and be noisy. You should honor the fallen with your silence. Everything they preserved in pristine condition. You can't take photos everywhere. The museum holds so much detailed information that you can feel the past. Worth visiting but if you have a weak heart or an over thinking or too sensitive mind, It's better to be cautious.
  • What a place! So full of history and sadness. We were there for approximately 3hrs which just wasn't long enough to see everything.
