A fairy tale setting come to life, Marienburg Castle rises above a landscape of rolling hills in the lush valley of the Leine River. Once a royal summer residence, the castle was originally a gift from King George V of Hanover to his wife, Queen Marie (hence the name). Today, the majestic castle is considered one of the finest examples of neo-Gothic architecture in the country. Parts of the castle are open to the public, such as the on-site museum, restaurant, and chapel. Explore the interior on a guided tour, which provides a rare chance to see what life at a royal court used to be like. You can also visit the official website for information about upcoming concerts, exhibitions, and other special events. • A beauty from the first glimpse approaching from the car park - and a beauty from all sides and angles, inside and out. A highly recommended visit - one of the the most handsome in Germany.

  • Really great place for a family trip. A lot of paintings on the wall and the castle is really pretty. The patio feels like a fairy tale. The restaurant has a good salad and the regional sausage soup is also very good. Definitely worth a visit. The forest around it seems pretty good for some hiking. It could also be a good bike tour from Hannover.
  • This was a very neat experience full of history and relics. The castle tour was set up in a logical way that clearly outlined the importance of it and its role in regional history. I do wish there was more detail about it's role during the wars and it's uses after the royal family left it.
