Schlossgut Schwante, Oberkraemer

I feel like there should be two separate places for review- the cafe needs to be on its own. Schwante is worth a visit for sure, considering it’s so close to Berlin. We have been coming here every summer since they’ve opened to public in 2020. Lovely idea and concept. The cafe however just keeps getting worse, sadly….which is puzzling since they could do so much with the idea of a garden menu, one just needs to look closer at British and US examples. Today was the worst experience yet, 30min wait for an overprice goats cheese salad and Flammkuchen, only to find out they forgot about it. The staff are probably the owner’s children, helped by a few folks from Ukraine, it seems- all of them fully overwhelmed (considering it’s the cafe’s 3rd year, surely planning can be done better?) And the food…16€ for a salad with just dry greens and 3 sad pieces of baked goats cheese..?! Had to ask for extra dressing or oil or something as it’s just unbearable. 14.50€ for a super modest Flammkuchen that is barely baked and has barely anything on it. Really have to remember to pack own picnic next time and just maybe order the coffee and wine. Giving it 3 stars for the atmosphere and the estate, they are lovely. (Though, as many said, the charge for the sculpture garden is also a bit of a joke, when compared with world class museum pricing.)

Beautiful experience. Is Definitely worth a visit. A great atmosphere in an fantastic location.
